Do you have a budding starlet? Does your sewista love Hollywood, costumes, fashion, acting, old (and new too) screen plays and movies. If so, then this year's camp is just the ticket for her!

Vintage Hollywood! is our 2018 summer sewing camp theme. This year, we will be focusing on designing, making and sewing items inspired by classic movie stars with a modern twist. Some of the fashions worn by classic stars like Greta Garbo, Audrey and Katherine Hepburn, and Grace Kelly have inspired the fashions we will make this year.

As part of this year's camp "Vintage Hollywood" your young sewista will have fun making new friends, sewing up a storm and being the first to make their own fashionable and classic outfits. YOU, are cordially invited to join Just Make it Sew as we explore fashion and sewing. Each camp week will be a "Starlet Week" at JMIS during the summer. We will end each week of camp with a studio display of finished projects that -- like previous years -- will be recorded and put on the JMIS YouTube channel to showcase each person's projects. If the girls are interested, they can even do their own fashion runway.

Our summer camps are appropriate for aspiring sewista's from ages 8 to 17. We will offer a few advanced projects for our more advanced, returning and more experienced sewistas. A number of this year's projects will allow each sewista to choose from among various design options that will allow them to express their creativity -- and showcase their own style. Besides having fun, making new or renewing old friendships and learning basic or new sewing skills, we will make up to 3 or 4 items (of those listed below) as time allows which will be chosen from among the following projects (project pictures to come soon):

• A Little "Black" Dress. This will be a stylish addition to your closet and should be a staple in every girls wardrobe. Make it in black or choose from a variety of color fabrics!
  
• A full skirt with an adjustable waist. This will be a high-waisted full skirt that is both a classic and modern look, like the one pictured here.

• A vintage "camera" purse. We've outdone ourselves by taking a box style camera and creating a pattern to make our own camera purse. Inspired by vintage cameras, this can be used by your sewista to store her own phone/camera and more. We recently saw a model in Burda Style magazine who was showing a old box style camera. Your sewista will have loads of fun creating her own moving pictures with this one.

• A top with a sweetheart neckline. A stylish light cotton summer top.

• A pair of flowing "pajama-style" wrap pants (pictured right) and ... other projects as time allows.

Cost for a week of camp is $295.00 and includes all materials for the camp, plus a pizza lunch on the last day of camp (Store location only). Then you can either mail the form in or bring it in on the first day of camp along with your remaining payment. Register by May 1st and we'll take $25.00 off the cost of the camp! In the West Windsor-Plainsboro NJ area (sign up is through the West Windsor - Plainsboro School District community program), we host half-day camps from Monday -- Friday from 9 am to Noon on the following weeks.
