Classes for the younger Sewist

Be Inspired! And see what you can Sew!

Below is our current listing of classes and workshops for our younger sewists. Our classes and workshops are designed to be fun, engaging, and many can be done as a joint project with both a parent and child/youth and either in-person or virtual. If the project is done online as a virtual session, we will prepare a kit for each person who is signed up. All zoom workshops must be purchased a minimum of one (1) week prior to the class, so we have time to get measurements, fabric choices and prepare the kit for pickup or mail delivery. See below for the details with more to come for her -- and you!

Single Event Classes and Workshops -- Autumn 2022

Below is a list of our single event workshops for October and November

Halloween AccessoriesHalloween Accessories. Saturday, October 22nd from 2 p.m to 4 p.m.

It's almost that time of year when the cutest ghouls and goblins make their appearance at your door. As you prepare for your child's bewitching experience, take your "store-bought" costume and make it unique!! Finish your student's costume (or better yet, have them do it themselves) and make one (or more) of these Halloween Accessories in our two hour workshop. Choices include from Cape, Hood, Witches Hat, Apron, Crown, Beanie, Eye Mask, or Peter Pan collar. Better yet, make it a Parent/Child event and both of you can work on your own costume accessory! Need a little help with your own project/design? We are open to helping you during the time set aside for this workshop but is limited to the two (2) hours of the class. Due to the wide variety of fabric needs based on the project, Fabric is NOT included in this workshop and can be purchased separately. For the smaller projects you are welcome to choose from our fabric stash at no charge.

This workshop will run from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Registration is limited! Follow this link to register/pay for these sessions

Teachers Convention Mini-Camp Days. Thursday, November 10th and Friday, November 11th.

When your student is home/off from school during the Teachers Convention days, make the most of your -- and their -- time by letting them sew their own stylish and on-trend projects. Each year, we offer two days of workshops -- when the teachers are in convention. This year's camp will feature a choice of projects. You can choose for them to come one day or both. Samples are in process of being developed. Due to the high interest in these workshops, w
e encourage you to sign up for this often sold out class. Skills learned in these mini-camps include, hemming and gathering, adding a button closure, and more. Amaze your family and friends when you tell them you/your daughter made it herself.

Mini-Camp days will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day -- Thursday and Friday. Both days will include a choice of fabric, all sewing supplies and a pizza lunch on Friday. Call us for more information for these great mini-camps. Registration is limited! While these projects are intended to be done in-person, either item could be done as a virtual workshop. If you are interested in a virtual workshop, please call us.

To sign up for both days you will need to add the option "Mini-Camp Day 1" to your cart and then select this item again and choose the option "Mini-Camp Day 2" and add it to your cart. Follow this link to register/pay for these sessions

Sewing is something that is shared by all peoples throughout the world -- like a thread woven between peoples and cultures. Share a window to our world and join us in our "Sewing Social."

Students can choose from a list of available projects. Beginners or Advanced Beginners are welcome, though to maximize their time, they should know how to operate a sewing machine. These sessions are designed to be an introduction to sewing in a fun and easy way that will engage young minds and eager hearts.

Learn. Sew. Create!

Design & CreateThe Design & Create Fashion Series.

Wednesday afternoon/evenings from 4:45 to 6:15 p.m. on a rolling 5 week basis running thru November 16th. Sign up for 5 week blocks. Adults and youth welcome!

Design & CreateDo you know a budding fashionista? Has your fashionista dabbled with creating their own fashion designs? Do they have a lot of creative ideas but don't know how to translate the idea into a finished project? Bring those to Just Make it Sew and we'll help you "bring-your-design-to-life."

This is a more focused class than our Sewcial Society series. For those who are just beginning, the sewist begins with a skirt design with guidance and assistance from us. Once they complete the skirt, we then work on a top based on their design. The third installment in this class series, is designing a pair of pants. Each of these take the prospective designer along the path from idea to design detail to completed project. Week one (1) will focus on designing the project, going over basic construction techniques, taking measurements, and (if needed) a primer on how to use a sewing machine. Week two (2) will focus on the design, work on the pattern, and begin cutting out fabric. Weeks three (3) thru five (5) will be the final stages of assembly and finishing the project.

The Design & Create Series will take place on Wednesday afternoons from 4:45 to 6:15 p.m. on a rolling 5 week basis thru November 16th. If the student finishes their project before the next session begins, they may work on an additional project or begin the next project in the series.

A selection of Fabric is not included in these sessions. Appropriate for ages 8 and up. Due to the special pricing of these classes, make up sessions are not allowed for these classes unless absences are noted at the time of signup for each session. Follow this link to sign up for this workshop.
