The Boxy Tote, Kit and Zoom Workshop Introduction to Sewing - Zoom Workshop & Kit A Zippered Pouch/Cosmetic Bag, Kit and Zoom Workshop

Summer is made for picnics! Join us and Learn. Sew. Create. your own picnic chic!

Every picnic starts by carrying your gear with you to your chosen setting. Everyone needs a bag large enough to carry your gear with you, but not so large -- or heavy -- that it wears you out getting your gear from the car to the picnic site. This boxy tote is just the answer for packing your gear. It's durable and can carry a wide variety of items from games, to food, to picnic utensils -- you name it. It can also double as a reusable grocery bag and can be popped into the washer for quick cleaning. (Try that with your plastic shopping bags!)

A sewing machine is required for this workshop with a needle that will sew through the strapping.

Skills learned include mitering corners, top stitching, sewing on a curve and more. Order this workshop and we'll prepare a kit for you with: pre-cut fabric of your choice, strap material, and thread.

This class is being offered on Saturday morning, June 27th, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is available for curbside pickup or mail delivery if ordered prior to Tuesday, June 23rd. While you are at it, be sure to check out our other Classes and workshops for all ages page.

Make your own T-Shirt Dress, kit and workshop!

If you are like us, you have a drawer full of t-shirts. It's often a favorite vacation souvenir to remind us of the good times we had while we were away, right? Put that shirt to good use and let us help you re-purpose your t-shirt into a new article of clothing that won't gather dust in the bottom of your dresser. In the space of about an hour we'll help you find a new use for one of your new or gently used t-shirts.

Join us on Friday afternoon, May 15th at 3:30 pm or Saturday, May 23rd beginning at 10:00 am. After you sign up, we'll send you a list of fabric choices, get your measurements and prepare the kit for you for curbside pickup or mail delivery. Kits ordered for the May 15 class with mail delivery need to be ordered by Tuesday, May 12th. Kits for Saturday the 23rd will need to be ordered by Tuesday, May 20th. The day of the workshop we'll walk you through the process of making this project. This project can be hand sewn, just let us know as we are preparing your kit.

The kit will include pre-cut fabric pieces from your choice of fabric, a small spool of matching thread, and -- if needed -- a sewing needle for hand sewing. T-Shirt not included.

Appropriate for any sewing level including "never-have-sewn-before". More than one wanting to sign up, no problem, just add the number of people who will be making the t-shirt dress and we'll provide a kit for each person, along with a discount on the workshop!

Why waste time pinning your fabric when you can clip it with Taylor Seville's Small Magic Clips. These clips will prevent you from pricking your fingers and help to reduce finger strain. These Magic Clips have 1/4" and 1/2" markings, ensuring that you have perfect seams every time. Made using surgical-grade stainless steel these clips open wide to accommodate multiple types of material and then closes flat so you can sew over them. Each pack contains 24 clips.

Sold per pack of 24 clips.

Designed by Meghan Carter and recently released by Cotton & Steel, this sweet rayon conjurs the image of standing in a open field of gently rolling hills, with flowers as far as the eye can see. Megan has a unique ability to pull beautiful elements from the past and create something fresh and relevant for our contemporary world. Megan's wonderfully stylized designs start off with pen and pencil drawings and brilliantly completed with gouache and digital art.

Cotton+Steel is delighted to have Megan on board and we are proud to announce her first collection, "Emilia" in both cotton and this exquisite rayon fabric. Pair this with one of our blouse patterns from the Friday Pattern Co. You'll be the talk of the town!

Designed by Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Company and just released by Cotton & Steel, one can almost smell the sweet scent of lemons and lemon blossoms. Part of the Primavera Collection, the print combine an array of ripe lemons and light colored lemon blossoms set among it's citrus leaves on a white background. Various shades of green, yellows, and even a hint of light orange permeate this print. 100% rayon, this print would be a stunning skirt, dress, blouse, or skort for spring or summer. What says "I love Dad" more than something made specifically for him? Make him a wallet or a portable charging station -- it's your choice!

Sunday, June 21st is Father's Day! . Each time Dad opens his wallet to pay for something or charges his phone, we will be reminded again and again of the one who made this special gift with him in mind. In this workshop, we are offering something your sewist can make for her special Father figure -- either a wallet or portable charging station.

Start your sewist on her sewing journey by indulging her creative spirit and finding things she will love to create. These projects can be either hand-sewn or machine-sewn and teach sewing skills that will be used again and again.
