The Sewing Basics Series
Introduction-to-Sewing Workshops - The Sewing Basics
Introduction to Sewing (and fashion)!
The best of fashion begins with the basics -- fabric, thread and you! There is no better place to start than right here by learning to sew for yourself.
In this two plus hour class you will learn all about your sewing machine AND finish your first project!
With this beginning -- and some practice -- you can "graduate" to ever more complicated and intricate projects. Over time, you'll be making those designer dresses with fabric we carry at Just Make it Sew. Take for example clothing by designer Eileen Fisher. At Bloomingdale's, a skirt, top or jacket could cost you $100 to $300 or more. With our help, you could make it yourself for a fraction of the cost, using an Eileen Fisher fabric found in our shop.
Get started today by joining us in this Introduction-to-Sewing -- and fashion workshop. Available for ages 8 thru adult. Class size is limited. Cost $50.00 per student, pattern and fabric not included. Sign up here and start your sewing journey today.

The Skill Builder -- II
The Skill Builder -- I
Now that you've taken the Introduction-to-Sewing class, you may want to expand your sewing skills. The Skill Builder - I lesson series is designed to teach you additional sewing skills. In this lesson series you can choose from a variety of projects. We are suggesting that you make this woven t-shirt. The advantage to making it out of woven fabric is that it won't cling and is flattering to the figure. In this project, you'll learn how to do a bust adjustment (which is a basic pattern making alteration that can be used again and again), how to set in a sleeve, sewing in a neck binding, heming and more. It's a great next step project -- one that you can do again and again!
You'll love wearing this top and best of all, when people ask you where you bought it you can say, "I made it myself!". This project is currently being scheduled as an individual lesson series. Call us to schedule your lesson series today! (Allow approx. 2-3 hours for this project.)
The final "installment" in the Sewing Basics series is a project where you will make a
sweater based on a "Named" pattern. You can learn to "recycle" a sweater or sweatshirt, or make it "fresh" as a new project. It could be a great way to update a favorite article of clothing, plus you'll learn valuable skills; how to follow a pattern, finish off edges, using a bias binding, etc. It's a fun and not-to-difficult pattern that is a great for all seasons!
This class is currently being scheduled as an individual lesson series. (Allow approx. 3 hours for this project.)
Workshop prices for the Introduction-to-Sewing class is only available on the day of the workshop. We are more than happy to schedule any class or workshops individually and paid for as individual lessons. Call us and we'll work with your schedule!
Want to go further? We offer a wide range of other classes, workshops and individual sewing lessons. Learn to make an unbrella, design your own pattern, sew an evening gown, that "Little Black Dress", etc. The sky -- and your imagination -- is the limit!
