Class, Lesson, & Workshop Policies
- We make a distinction between Classes, Lessons, and Workshops. Classes are group sessions that have an ongoing nature. Workshops are usually a single-event session. Lessons are typically a one-on-one event with an instructor and a student.
- Lessons are usually an hour or more in length and may be taken on a weekly, bi-weekly or other basis. Time may be scheduled at the convenience of both student and instructor in a minimum of one-hour increments. All Lessons and consultations take place at Just Make it Sew.
- With the exception of those attending our Summer Camps (though taking the Intro Class is highly encouraged), All new students and beginners taking Lessons are required to start with our Intro to Sewing Class (an initial two plus hours) with the completion of the first project or demonstrated basic sewing and sewing machine proficiency. Individual Workshops are usually marked as beginner friendly or that the Intro Class or sewing experience is a requirement.
- Scheduling priority is given to prepaid Lessons scheduled on a weekly basis.
- Classes, Lessons, and Workshop prices are as posted.
- Classes, Workshops, and Individual Lessons must be paid for in advance of the class, workshop or lesson to hold or reserve your spot.
- Once paid for, there are no refunds. Fees for Lessons and Classes are put “on-account” with us and deducted as used with the expectation that paid Lessons are used within 6 months of purchase. If the account becomes dormant or inactive and no Lessons have been used for a period of 6 months of purchase, the account incurs a monthly service fee of $5.95 per month until funds are exhausted. If a student has not taken any Lessons for a period of 6 months or longer, and funds remain on account with us after deduction for the monthly service fee(s), Lessons may be scheduled with us. However, if in the interim there has been a price increase, Lessons are charged to the account at the new lesson rate.
- Individual Lessons or Classes may be rescheduled once as a “make-up” — with at least (a minimum of) 24 hours notice in advance of the scheduled time. Once rescheduled, if the student cannot make the rescheduled Class or Lesson, the time is forfeit.
- Missed Events. Lessons or Classes that are missed or rescheduled with less than 24 hours prior notice are charged for the lesson or class. Missed Workshops are not rescheduled.
- Late Arrivals. Scheduled Lessons, Classes, or Workshops begin at the appointed time and we encourage all learners to be as punctual as possible. There are no make-ups for late arrivals and the full amount of their a) scheduled time Lesson hour(s), b) Class, or c) Workshop is forfeit with no credit for time missed. Those arriving more than five (5) minutes after their appointed start time are admitted solely at the discretion of the instructor, and anyone arriving more than ten (10) minutes late for a Class or Workshop will not be admitted.
- All Policies may be altered at the discretion of Just Make it Sew.
