Chalk and Notch is woman owned business and a pattern designer from the US. Gabriella -- the owner, a pattern maker, and a mom -- started Chalk & Notch in 2015 as a more ethical alternative to fast fashion. Her start began when she went to college for Fashion Design to become a fashion designer but fell in love with the art of pattern making. Her first pattern release was a Girls’ pattern in November of 2015 and her first Women’s pattern was released in 2017.

Chalk and Notch is a small business, with a goal of offering stylish, professionally drafted patterns with detailed instructions. Along with creating a trusted product, they want their customers to know that they stand against racism, and are committed to working with Black Makers and Makers of Color. They have also pledged to work only with fabric companies and partners who believe in supporting the global movement of Black Lives Matter.
